Mongol Invasion
In China
In the year 1270, the Yuan dynasty which coincides with the Mongols, because at the time the Mongols had conquered a huge chuck of the known world at that time. But since Mongolia which was right above China, they started by conquering China. When the Yuan dynasty was established it created benefits as well as losses to the Muslims. In the 14th century there were about 4 million Muslims living in China, because in the beginning the Yuan dynasty wanted the Muslims to migrate in their territories. Kublai Khan was related to Genghis Khan who encouraged the Muslims to migrate to China. He divided China into 12 different territories, which about 8 were ruled by Muslims. The Mongols in fact trusted the Hui more than the Han even though ethically there was no difference, the Hui were just Muslim. One of the leaders of the Muslims under the Yuan dynasty was Ameerudeen. The Mongols gave him great respect because at that time the capital city was called “Khanbalik” which later became known as Beijing, they employed him Ameerudeen, who was a master in architecture of different types whether it was Persian, Chinese, Arab, etc…. They gave him the job to design the city of Beijing. He actually blended the different styles of architectures together creating something totally unique.
As mentioned before, there were also low points for the Muslims in China. Genghis Khan banned the slaughtering of Animals in a halal manner. This new law made the Muslims very upset and outrageous because the Yasa law stated that slaughtering animals in a halal way was forbidden, but you need to cut the animals chest open and rip its heart out, which was obviously 100% haram (prohibited) in Islam. After all there good things with the Yuan dynasty they started to run into problems. For this reason Genghis Khan started to oppress the Muslims because they wouldn’t summit to his barbaric laws. Many Muslims started to lead rebellions against the Yuan dynasty. As the Mongols were being defeated by the Mamulukes in Egypt, the Han took advantage by attacking the Mongols as well. This time the Hans and Muslims teamed up to beat the Mongols.
